MAAORI HEALERS WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Join the Maaori Healers on their long-awaited return to the United States! This weekend workshop was created to address the current state of our planet and our individual selves. It will share ancestral teachings in a stunning, self-empowering journey for both men and women.  It’s been four years since their last visit – this is an experience not to be missed!

The Maaori are the indigenous peoples of New Zealand (Aotearoa).  Sent by their elders (Kaumatua), the Māori Healers have traveled the world over the last 25 years spreading their ancestral teachings and bringing their unique body/soul work to thousands.

The foundation of Maaori Healing Arts is an ancient body of sacred knowledge based on universal principles dating back thousands of years. It is a treasure, passed down from generation to generation. It helps the body to shift back into balance, closer to its natural state of being, and it returns one closer to their spiritual vibrations. Come to join us to learn this powerful healing art.

The workshop will share healing exercises and protocols designed to release physical, emotional, and mental issues that we’ve created or copied, held on to, and passed down. Learning to do the work on ourselves is a must, in order to acknowledge for each that the greatest healer indeed is ourselves. As we clear the "collective soul" of our assembled whanau (family), then we can heal the individual soul, the broken heart, the hurting body on many levels.  An inner star opens. The rainbow aura is revealed.

Workshop elements will include:

  • Pure - Purification Ceremony

  • Wairuatanga - Spiritual Element (instinct, energy, harmony, balance)

  • Mahi Raakau - Self Help / Self Healing

  • Te Reo - Learning the Voice of Nature

  • Hunuku - Healing Emotions re: Ancestral and Present Relationships

PURE Cleansing Ceremony

THE TEACHERS

The women will be led by ATARANGI MURU - a knowledge / lineage holder of the ancient Maaori Healing Arts of New Zealand.

Atarangi was raised in the small coastal village of Ahipara and is affiliated to Ngati Kuri, Te Aupouri and Te Rarawa tribes. Her name translates as ata (dawn) rangi (light) and in the old language means ‘the realization of one’s visions’ (Naida Pou attributed the korero). Atarangi’s drive in the work is the growth and support of people using specific tools for self-healing. Her passion for the healing arts was ignited by her elders where her training began at an early age, as it did for many in those times. Being taught at the knees of her many Kuia (Elder women) and Koroua (Elder men), is the traditional method. Today she passes these healing arts forward to her children, grandchildren, and her extended family both biological and spiritual. Atarangi has been traveling the world over the last 25 years spreading the ancestral teachings and bringing the Maaori's unique body/soul healing work to thousands.

The men will be led by Terence Muru.

TERENCE MURU spent 20 plus years traveling as a member of the Maaori Healers. Of Ngati Kuri, Te Aupouri and Te Rarawa tribes on his mother’s side and Rarotongan and Tahitian on his father’s side. Terence's deep and precise work brings clarity to the what he does with people. In his early teens, Terence began traveling internationally with Atarangi (his mum), while already assisting locally at home. When working on someone ill, frail, pained or needing an ear to talk to, or words of counsel, Terence’s ability to be present, listen deeply and give feedback were strong indications of what this young man was like. During his teens, Terence had mentors like Papa Joe (Hohepa Delamere), Aunty Heni Phillips, Manu Korewha, Whaea Makuini Ruth Tai, to name a few, and these teachings continue to guide him today. As a result, his natural tendencies towards compassion, patience and connection are finely tuned.

MEGAN READ is from Aotearoa New Zealand and is affiliated to the Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Whare tribes of the North Island. She lives in the beautiful coastal town of Tauranga. She works with people with various mamae (pain), but her passion is working with “forgotten” women who have survived sexual abuse and violence from an early age. She loves connecting them to the remembrance of the essence of who they truly are: Shifting stagnant energy, releasing guarding/ protective muscles from accumulated experiences from trauma & stress held deep in the cellular memory. To gain more peace, calmness & clarity.

Papa Joe, Manu Korewha, Makuini Ruth Tai, Rose Pere, grandparents and whanau (family) added to the wealth of knowledge the Maaori Healers have garnered over time.

THE PROGRAM

The structure of the workshop will depend on the flow and energy of the group, as well as the group needs. The Maaoris work completely in the moment and respond to what is happening in that moment. This is the magic of working with indigenous peoples who are completely present, breathing and alive, so no guarantees… But generally, the weekend will go something like this…

Holding past issues of the heart, the emotion, unfulfilled expectation of self, unmet dreams, unknown passions - these all play a part in dumbing down of the self. Working with the body is not a practice, it is a need, even when painful, but you can do this with ease and take care of yourself. The workshop will empower you with skills to practice on your own for a lifetime.

Wahine / Women’s work - Body/Soulwork continues with exercises to acknowledge and release what is held in the body as it relates to our womanhood. What we give to others, our work, our family, our community; what we keep for the self, sustenance, self love, forgiveness. The nurtured and the nurturer within. Blood stagnation and life force. Release of pressure in the female organs to clear ancestral trails. A rebirth. All bodywork is done fully clothed. (Led by Atarangi and Megan.)

Tane / Men’s work - Body/Soulwork to release what is held in the body to do with men’s stance in life, how they handle situations, balance. Deep Romi (Bodywork) to clear stagnant energy, lack of blood circulation. Working to put the mana back into the hearts of men. (Led by Terence)

12:00 - 1pm Kai (Lunch)

1pm - 5pm - Coming together of the groups. Discussion and harmonizing of male and female energies. What is happening to the energetic and physical fabric of the male and female? How do we bring harmony, stability and balance?

The afternoon may offer another cleansing ceremony that extends beyond ourselves to all life - those who are ill or frail or in pain, our communities, all animals and nature. Prayers for peace and freedom. These are also done to heal the land, the waters, old genocide from civil war, Indian wars, slavery, old trauma etc. so we clear the "collective soul" of our assembled people.
